Richard Avedon: Artist Of The Week

Image
1. How is the technical quality?  2. How’s the composition?  3. Did the photographer connect with his subjects or do they    look tense, posed? 4. Does the photographer tell a story?  5. What do you find interesting about his work?   The technical quality is great. He blurred the background to get a crisp image of the man walking down the street.   The guy is walking down the street after rain, because the ground is wet.   The subject does look tense in the photo which could mean that the photographer did not get along with him.  I think that the story may be him trying to show a more serious side to Bob Dylan. I find interesting that as you look farther back, it gets more and more blurred.   The quality is fantastic. It is a crisp image. Not pixelated and all of the details are shown.  The background is clear and grey and the girl is holding the elephant's trunk and posing in front of them. T...

Martin Chambi 1. How is the technical quality?  2. How’s the composition?  3. Did the photographer connect with  his subjects or do they look tense, posed ? 4. Does the photographer tell a story?  5. What do you find interesting about his work?   The technical quality is great. He has the guy in the dark part of the photo and shows the clouds to show the level of light on the photo.   The composition has dark clouds in the sky compared to the bright sky. He has the man off to the right in the shadow of the building.  The subject does not look tense in the photo, so I believe he connected with his subjects.  From the photo, I can not tell if there is a story to tell. I love that in this photo, he shows the different levels of light in the photo, going from sunlight, to shadows throughout the photo.  The technical quality is fantastic. He uses the light to his advantage to contrast the darkness of the car.  Th...

Mario Testino: Artist Of The Week

Image
Mario Testino 1. How is the technical quality?  2. How’s the composition?  3. Did the photographer connect with  his subjects or do they     look tense, posed ? 4. Does the photographer tell a story?  5. What do you find interesting about his work? The technical quality is amazing. He uses bright color to emphasis the uniqueness of the photo. The composition has the girl sitting with bright blue skies in what looks to be the desert with her looking off in the distance. I feel that the artist may not have connected with his subjects because they do look somewhat tense in the photos  I think the artist is trying to show that because of her young age, that it is stereotypical of people that age to where more colorful and unique clothing of that type. I find interesting the small details he includes. There is a broom in the background for some reason that I found really intriguing.  The technical quality is fantastic in t...

Annie Leibovitz: Artist Of The Week

Image
Annie Leibovitz 1. How is the technical quality? 2. How’s the composition? 3. Does the photographer tell a story? 4. What do you find interesting about her work?   Elizabeth II, Buckingham Palace, London, March 28, 2007. Photograph by Annie Leibovitz.  The technical quality of the photograph is fantastic in this photo. She has the queen so focused, with the background blurry but not all the way so that it still looks visible to the person looking at it. The composition of the photo of Queen Elizabeth II has her standing off to the left, with possible lighting/dark clouds in the background with dead trees and a lake. It seems like Annie took the photo at an upward angle. I feel the photographer is trying to tell from the dark sense that is represented, that the queen holds the power. She shows her wearing black, not smiling and a dark background, so I feel that Annie was trying to show how the queen should look to others. I find it interesting that she chose to go so dark with ...
