Martin Chambi: Artist Of The Week

Martin Chambi

1. How is the technical quality?

2. How’s the composition?

3. Did the photographer connect with his subjects or do they look tense, posed ?

4. Does the photographer tell a story?

5. What do you find interesting about his work?
  1.  The technical quality is great. He has the guy in the dark part of the photo and shows the clouds to show the level of light on the photo.
  2.   The composition has dark clouds in the sky compared to the bright sky. He has the man off to the right in the shadow of the building.
  3.  The subject does not look tense in the photo, so I believe he connected with his subjects.
  4.  From the photo, I can not tell if there is a story to tell.
  5. I love that in this photo, he shows the different levels of light in the photo, going from sunlight, to shadows throughout the photo.

  1.  The technical quality is fantastic. He uses the light to his advantage to contrast the darkness of the car.
  2.  The composition shows fully clear skies with the car in the center and a man in front of it. The background, I believe, is the desert.
  3.  The subject does not look tense in the photo, so I believe he connected with his subjects.
  4.  The story could be about being alone. The background is bare and deserts are usually bare. There is only one man in the photo, staring out into the empty desert.
  5. I find it interesting that he chose to do the photo with almost nothing in it. The background is clear and there is only a car and a man. It is so simple, yet can have so many meanings.
