Artist Of The Week: Anna Atkins 1. How’s the composition? 2. What do you find interesting about her work? 3. How is the technical quality? The cyanotype shows a plant/crop that takes up the whole page, possibly wind when it was taken. I find the angle that the image is at in the photo to be quite interesting. The quality is great in that you can see every detail that you can with this type of photo. The photo has something that looks like thin paper or tissue paper that could be floating and takes up the whole photo. I find that how she was able to emphasize the thinness and make it seen as see through is so amazing given the resources of the time. In terms of quality, it is amazing how you can see the texture of the object and not one detail is overlooked in the photo.

William Henry Talbot 1. How’s the composition? 2. What do you find interesting about his work? 3. How is the technical quality ? The composition really just has a half moon in the center of the night sky. I find the amount of detail in the photo to be surprising given the time and resources that were available. The quality is pretty decent for that time and even the way that black and white was back then has a different effect when looking at it compared to today's black and white. There is a tree with very few leaves in the center of the photo and it appears red. I find the red tint to be quite interesting and what they did to get that red hue over the photo. The quality is very fuzzy with, compared to the last photo, seems like opposite in terms of clearness and details.

Artist Of The Week: Louis Daguerre 1. How’s the composition? 2. What do you find interesting about his work? 3. How is the technical quality? The woman is looking of at a spot in the distance with nature in the background, but she looks very uncomfortable in the photo. I find it interesting that the photo has this quality for it being such an early development in photography. The technical quality of the photograph is fantastic in this photo when you consider the time in which the photo was taken. The picture is relatively clear for it being one of the early photos to be taken. There is a huge building in the photo with some trees in the front, but there are no leaves so it can be assumed that it is winter during this photo. I find it interesting that there is white that is the same color of the building, around the actual building. This area is sky, so I wonder why it is still white. The technical quality of the photograph is decent in this photo when considered the t...
